What BCBAs miss in Nevada

Does Nevada license behavior analysts?

Nevada licenses behavior analysts and assistant behavior analysts and registers behavior technicians. A license requires current BCBA or BCBA-D certification, good moral character, fingerprints and a passing score on Nevada's own exam on state ABA law. The board must decide a complete application within 120 days.

Can a BCBA licensed in another state get a Nevada license by endorsement?

Nevada offers an expedited license by endorsement to anyone holding a valid, unrestricted behavior analyst license in another state, DC or a territory, with no discipline or investigation by a board or the BACB and no malpractice liability. Fingerprints and a sworn affidavit go with the application.

  • Endorsement or reciprocity route

Does Nevada have a state law exam or requirement?

Behavior analysts and assistants must pass a state exam on the laws and regulations governing ABA in Nevada. An applicant who meets every other requirement may receive a provisional license, for up to one year, while waiting to pass it.

  • Fingerprint background check

Does Nevada license assistant behavior analysts?

BCaBAs need a Nevada assistant behavior analyst license and must show they will be supervised by a licensed behavior analyst, or a licensed psychologist who holds BCBA certification, meeting BACB supervisor requirements. Assistants also take the state law exam.

  • Licensed Assistant Behavior Analyst

Do behavior technicians need a Nevada credential?

RBTs must register with the state, not just hold BACB certification. The application proves current RBT certification and names a qualified supervisor. Registration renews every two years, with a criminal history check at the third renewal and every third one after. The board may not require technician CE.

  • Registered Behavior Technician (state registration)

How often does a Nevada behavior analyst license renew?

Licenses and registrations renew by January 1 of each odd-numbered year with proof of current BACB certification. Behavior analysts follow BACB CE requirements plus 6 hours of cultural competency and DEI instruction; behavior analysts and assistants also need 2 hours on suicide prevention.

  • Renews every 2 years
